Sacked

My company laid me off today.  Along with 6 others.  It really sucks balls because I thought it was the sweetest job ever and I didn't see it coming.  Although, in retrospect, I probably should've.  Shitty economy and all that.  Nevermind.  I'll find something else.  More travel, perhaps.

Just so sad what's going on not just in this country but all over the world.  It's pretty scary, actually.  I have a friend who's been out of work looking for a job since August!  I blame the Bush Administration and the greedy effing bankers out there.  Seriously, how could they not see this coming?  Total fuck-ups.

I'm handling it better than I thought I would but I'm still dreading the trip to the unemployment office tomorrow, along with a call to my recruiter.  Argh...so crap when you have a great job and then you longer don't.  Sure it will all work out somehow, some way and I'll probably look back and say, "No doubt it was just meant to be."

Sorry to hear about that. It's a very tough time right now.:-(

Hope the economy improves later this year. It still has a ways to go.

Sorry to hear the news, I know how much you loved your job. Lose yourself in some music for a while, dance those blues away, then get out there again with your positive energy on overload.

Hey everyone, thanks for your kind words and support. I'm doing surprisingly ok and am annoyingly optimistic, actually. Been running around the city getting things done, sending stuff off, and basically felt like I was working, anyway.

Brom, I've definitely been dancing. Favorite English djs are in town my birthday weekend next month so I'm pretty excited about that.

You basically called for me so I had to come by. Chicago gal - nice! My home town. Go Cubs!!

Bummer about the job, but I like your attitude. Good luck and please have a potbellies for me (I crave that place).

Wow, that was awkward-Did you leave the best city ever? Where did you go and more importantly how do they feel about you supporting the cubs? We were sooo disappointed with them last year! The best team until the very end, just like the cubbies, I'm afraid. Maybe they won't (ahem, excuse the pun) drop the ball this year.

Yeah, job thing is sad. But I'm sure something will work out! And yes, potbellies is amazing...best turkey subs ever. Mmm...turkey sub.

Mmmm, roast beast....

I am in Denver with a surprising number of other Cubs loyalists. When the Cubs play the Rockies here, the stadium is split nearly 50-50. It is quite fun to be a Cubs fan here.

I am barely able to talk about last year. But with spring training around the corner, I'm trying to let go of last year's disappointment.

I was in Chicago last week and froze my big ass off. I am happy in Colorado!!

The cold is enough to drive me out of this place sometimes. I mean, -12? This is when I seriously consider getting a seasonal job as a fruit picker somewhere down South. But it's surviving the winter that makes the rest of the time here so much more special. Street fests!!

Keeping fingers crossed that cubs pull through this year! Surprised about amount of fans in Denver, that's pretty cool.

Sorry to hear that the economy got you.
Guess that puts a halt on your trip to the Aussie beaches.
Good luck with the job hunt---a talented lady shouldn't be out of work for too long

Hey Clyde, yeah, it's been a disappointment but I think it's probably happened for a reason. More time to travel, perhaps? Work abroad? Kind of exciting. ;)

I'm so sorry about your job Kathryn! Good luck with your job search! I know you probably don't look at this like an upside but, hey, you get to sleep in next week! And they extended unemployment benefits to up to 6 months in December!

P.S. You're so right! Greedy motherfucking banks and the Bush administration got us into this mess. A friend of mine was at the inauguration in D.C. and she said when he came out, EVERYONE in the crowd booed! She found out later from her friends that all the major networks cut the sound/booing out when he got on stage because they thought it was 'disrespectful'. Whatever!

Justina-Thank you so much. I'm sure I'll figure something out. I wish they hadn't left out the booing...he so deserved it.

EmmaK-I think this might be an excuse to go somewhere warm for awhile! And thank you.

Bum!

Have you leant out of the window and yelled:

"Flippin' Pants!" at the top of your voice?

It might help...keep positive.

Hmm, I haven't tried that Greavsie, but the only reason is because I can't open my windows at the moment. I'll just have to go outside and do it. And thank you. :)

Thanks, Cliff. I'm sure something this is just making way for other opportunities. Hope so, anyway! ;)
