Dance!

It's Friday night! Oh Yeah. The big B show is only 1 day away. That would be Bassnectar , people. And he is wicked. My friend Jami and I are Excited. His crazy, funky, gritty, industrial beats get us moving like none other at the moment besides, perhaps, Rabbit in the Moon. I love how his site explains his music:

"Fusing elements of midtempo breakbeats, big beat, old school hip hop and dub, DnB, glitch, IDM, electronica, death metal, grindcore, punk rock, alternative, folk, swing, and jazz; and sampling anything from the human history of sound and music, Bassnectar might be most accurately described as “omni-tempo maximalism."

Yay for Dancing! *Jumping*

Bloody hell he covers a lot of styles.

Did you hear your man Christopher Lawrence is in some controversy over the DJ Mag Top 100?

Just found out the controversy. It seems like it was the fault of the marketing manager...do you think that CL had any idea of the rigged voting? I really hope not.

The Entheon Village hanging/banner from Burning Man 2006 was set up behind DJ Lorin aka Bassnectar at the show. That was cool (for some reason I feel that it is necessary to illuminate everyone with that mad knowledge...). Yo, I'm so fixated on patching into these conduits to Black Rock City...
It was cold outside, but past the steam-covered portals of the Abbey the vibe was tremendous. A very eclectic crowd of clubbers, dread-locked hippies and paranormal investigators filled the quarters but everyone seemed equally excited about the music. The Abbey has a dive quality to it that's like being at the edge of town by the railroad tracks in rural Wisconsin. But this was a secret underground festival taking place, with optical art lining the halls and slamming futuristic beats vibrating the walls. A space-age speakeasy at the periphery of the known universe, you know the drill. The scene outside afterwards was great too. This review courtesy of G in case K is too hung over to do it. Hi Jami!

HAHAHA. Hi Graham! and Kat!
Yes, the show was awesome! Too bad it felt like it went by in like 5 minutes!

Graham summed up the night perfectly. Thanks, babe. Ah! Those beats were steamy and gorgeous.

Jami, you are so right! The night really did feel like only 5 minutes. I thought it was only 2 when I got home but it was more like 5...? Lots and lots of fun! What's on next, then? :)

I get the impression that he probably didn't know about it. but then who knows. Kinda highlights the complete pointlessness of it all though. I've hated that poll for ages and all the smaller ones like it that keep popping up.

Also, I like "A space-age speakeasy at the periphery of the known universe, you know the drill."

Nice.

Sander Kleinenberg commented that only 19 year-old guys vote for those polls, anyway. I don't think it will affect his music or his fans.
