A Midsummers Night's Dream: A Queer Tale
I just went to see a fabulous rendition of Shakespeare's A Midsummers Night's Dream. It was performed by a mixed group of Gay/Straight actors in Chicago. And it was excellent!
My co-worker Krystal was in it as Peter Quince, Director of the Mechanicals, and what an opening night it was!!! There was dancing, comedy and drama. So much so that at the end I thought I'd cry when one of the Mechanicals killed himself during the presentation of their play.
It was adapted very well from Shakespeare into a modern play and there were several sexual inneduos that while racy were exceptional, especially the drag queen Titania. It was definitely worth the money and I may even see it a second time!
